But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”
I CORINTHIANS 2:9
What is vision and why does it matter to us?
For our purposes, we can define vision as the capacity to explore possibilities beyond the confines of what has come before. It is more than just a daydream of possibilities for “someone, somewhere, sometime - and it is not for “they.” Rather, it is the very personal power of choice married to a belief in the promise of creation and, if believed, the promises of God. In a setting such as our church, that calls for embracing two vital things:
· The work is always expanding in an ever-present mission
· The Universe (God) always meets us at the point of our possibility

CMCC: VISION MONTH
About two years ago, we were asked to meet in the Freeman House to create, clarify and claim a vision for CMCC in the coming years. Some of our goals have been manifest, some are still nascent. So we're taking this opportunity to establish, for now and in the coming years, a time to revisit our vision and check-in with ourselves to see where we are and what is still to be done. And, perhaps most importantly, to restate and recast our vision for the future. Since the year end and the year beginning are a natural time for reflection, we've named January as our CMCC Vision Month.
During January, members and non-members alike will be invited to share in brief weekly segments the things that are important to us in creating the right home for OUR people (and that includes YOU!) as well as the people whose lives are touched by our work for God in this ministry. So please use this time to reflect, to reclaim and recapture the spirit of adventure and promise that launched this church nearly 40 years ago and will carry it forward over the next half-century.
CMCC: YOUR CHURCH, YOUR MISSION
This task of casting the vision is not something that is handed to the congregation by "management." This is work OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people. And that means that YOU, dear reader (or viewer or listener) are invited to participate in the work of CMCC in our church home base on Government Street, in our extended community here in Mobile and within our ever-growing outreach audience via live streaming and social media. That means that everyone who has an interest in the work of Cornerstone, whether joining us from across the aisle or across the country, has not only the privilege, but the responsibility of participating in creating the future of the church we call home here at Cornerstone.

CMCC: YOUR MISSION
Over the next four weeks, we will invite all interested congregants - members, guests and viewers to participate in our vision casting work. During this period, we will focus on four areas and, at the end, culminate in a new visioning moment, armed with the information and commitment from our participants that will seed and then nurture our onward and upward movement as a missional community. These are not the vision statements or goals themselves - they are instead the inventory of resource and commitment that we can bring to the next iteration of Cornerstone MCC. You will be asked to provide the core information that we can use to lay the foundation of expectation for God to move in a mighty way.
